Wood Art
The Shop at the Gallery carries exquisite and eye-catching wood products. Our turned wood products are generally made with local woods, principally birch, birch burls, willow, juniper, cottonwood and spruce.
Recently with the infestation of the mountain pine beetle in the area, we have been seeing bowls, candle holders, etc, made with beetle killed pine. This produces a very attractive blue ring around the edge of the bowl and is proving to be extremely popular.
Each piece is individually dried, turned and finished and no two pieces will be exactly alike. These include vases, bowls, candleholders, beetle pine, and much more!
Local Wood Artists
Pat Baker - is well known for his fine woodworking. His work has won prizes in many competitions and graces tables in Asia and Europe as well as North America. Pat has lived in Prince George for many years, and for most of those he has been working with wood, either making furniture or turning beautiful bowls. He uses mostly local woods which he collects himself, or occasionally finds left on his stoop by friends who know he will use it well.

Glenn Wyka - is a wood turner who lives in Prince George and works from home. He salvages his wood from logging sites, which sometimes includes digging the roots out of the ground. He states that every piece is unique and lends its character to the final design of the work.
