This Sunday, July 19th the 7th Annual Artists in the Garden tour will take place. There are 6 gardens ranging from as sweet Gingerbread style house in the Millar Addition to a 400 acre ranch at lower mud river.
This year there are 26 listed artists as well as a large group of painters coming out from the Artists CoOp. Janice Parker will do a painting, inspired by the Millar Addition garden - And for $5 you could be the lucky owner of an original Janice Parker painting.
The 400 acre Ranch does really have any proper garden but it does have, after hard work of 7 artists, a sculpture garden. There is a large piece by Phil Morrison made out of old washers and dryers called Tome, site specific work by Susan Barton Tait that asks you to look at the natural beauty of the resulting pine beetle clear cut and she is also preparing two performance pieces which will be done on the day.
There is also edible art by Dagmar Norton, the owner of the Norton Cottages which are, by the way rated by Canada Select at 41/2 stars which is the only one in the interior - the cottages will be open for viewing and believe me you'll be impressed and want to book one of the cottages for your own getaway. Anyway Dagmar's edible art is a 6 m or over 19 feet of strawberry shortcake!!!
So you see art wears many different faces - painting, sculpture, performance and food - don't miss this opportunity of experiencing it all on one day !
