BMO KidzArt Dayz 2009 PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Next week, July 10 & 11, there is an event taking place inside and outside of the Gallery where over 3,000 people drop in to get creative. This event has been part of Two Rivers Gallery for over 10 years. I'm talking about KidzArt Days, more specifically BMO KidzArt Dayz, as it is generously sponsored by the Bank of Montreal.

These two days include creative partnerships with Exploration Place, Huble Homestead and REAPS, to name a few, who bring their own creative projects to the Civic Plaza. Our summer student Jessie has also devised new projects like a sound-scape of secret love letters, an interactive sculpture and a scavenger hunt of mason jars filled with curiosities.

There is something for kids of all ages 1 to 91: like face painting, chalk drawing, clay shaping, rock painting, easel painting, beading, hat making and even building a cityscape.

This is a popular event because children and parents and caregivers can have fun together moving from creative station to the next. It's wonderful to witness children create, or play, they do it so easily and do so in order to make sense of their surroundings, to figure stuff out about themselves and everything else around them.

Bring your children or even borrow a little friend and drop in between 10 & 3 on Friday or Saturday to remind yourself how thrilling it is to pick up a blob of paint, to mush clay through your fingers or simply rip some paper. The best bit is that it is sponsored by the Bank of Montreal and that means it is free access for everyone!
