Bijou Artisans' Fair PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Oh my there's only a couple of weeks left until the big day, and you've suddenly realized that all of the Christmas fairs are over..... No need to panic because Two Rivers Gallery is hosting a last minute Bijou Artisans Fair for Christmas shopping on Saturday December 12th from 10 to 5pm.
Today I'm going to feature participating textile artists Karen Dayton, The Forest Felters and Laura Ejack. Karen is a well known seller at the summer Farmer's market with her beautifully coloured felted works - gloves, mitts, scarves and hopefully, for my sake, some of her vests and waistcoats. I say that as I have two of Karen's pieces that receive high compliments every time I wear them.
The Forest Felters, Kathy Juncker and Hugh Perkins felted pieces are inspired by the forest that surrounds them and their work reflects that kind of imagery and those colours. I recently purchased one of Hugh's pieces where he used fine threads of wool to draw a silhouetted image of a rooted tree placed on a background of soft grey wool - it's a stunning simple design that evokes an emotional and visual response - so much so that I just couldn't take my eyes of it and had to have it.

Laura Ejack makes the most wonderful handbags, scarves and wool wraps. Laura uses precious as well as everyday fabric and materials in her work. She embellishes the bags with embroidery, some by hand and/or machine, beadwork and threadwork. Each bag is unique and if you know anyone, as I do, who are obsessed with handbags or purses this work is something to behold.

The Bijou Artisans Fair from 10 to 5 on December 12th at Two Rivers Gallery and bring along a tin of soup for admission free entrance into the Pop Art Print Exhibition. The soup will be donated to local foodbanks at the end of the exhibition in February.
